Following Namdaemun Market and Hongdae, here’s the third installment of my snack shop series!

Since I work near Myeongdong, I often visit restaurants and cafes in this area. Last month, after work, I met up with a friend at City Hall Station. We both suddenly craved tteokbokki, so we looked for a nearby snack shop. That’s when we found Cheongdamdong Witch Kimbap’s City Hall branch. Since it’s right in front of City Hall, it’s a convenient spot for foreign tourists to stop by during their trip or for those staying at nearby hotels.
Directions to Cheongdamdong Witch Kimbap
It’s located right in front of Seoul City Hall Plaza. The location is absolutely perfect. I’ll attach a Google Map for detailed directions.
If you’re taking the subway, exit through Exit 5 at City Hall Station (Lines 1 and 2), walk straight across the street in front of City Hall, and you’ll see Cheongdamdong Witch Kimbap. If you’re taking the subway, exit through Exit 8 at Euljiro 1-ga Station (Line 2), walk straight ahead, and when you turn left, you’ll see Tim Hortons; it’s right next to it.
A quick tip about Seoul
If you’re planning to go from City Hall to Dongdaemun, how would you get there? You might take the subway, a bus, a taxi, or walk. If you’re planning to walk from City Hall to Dongdaemun, try taking the underground route. It’s connected underground along the subway line! It gives off a vibe similar to the recently released movie Backroom.
As you walk along the long underground passage, you’ll experience a variety of atmospheres, from shuttered shops to deserted streets. If you want to experience this atmosphere, head down to the subway station, skip the turnstiles, and follow the signs! You won’t find many blogs that share this kind of information! Hehe, once you arrive at Dongdaemun, check out my post on Haenam Nakji: A Famous Octopus Specialty Restaurant near DDP for a delicious dinner.
If you’re taking the bus, get off at Seoul Plaza Station.
Since many foreign tourists stay near Myeong-dong, and Deoksugung Palace, Seoul City Hall, Gyeongbokgung Palace, and Myeong-dong are must-see attractions, Cheongdamdong Witch Kimbap is a great spot to stop by for a light brunch or “jeom-jeo” (a meal eaten between lunch and dinner).
Inside the Restaurant
The Cheongdamdong Witch Kimbap building isn’t huge, but there are quite a few tables inside. Once you enter, you can place your order at the kiosk. Just find an empty seat and sit down. They also have a self-service bar, so if you need more pickled radish or want a drink of water, feel free to help yourself.
Items We Ordered Ourselves
My friend and I went there because we were craving tteokbokki, so we ordered the Witch Tteokbokki (6,700 KRW). Since we were both hungry, we also ordered one roll of Witch Kimbap (4,800 KRW) and the Assorted Fried Platter (5,500 KRW). If you can’t handle spicy food but still want to try tteokbokki, I recommend ordering the Rose Tteokbokki (9,000 KRW). It’s less spicy and creamier than the one I ordered.

In addition to what I ordered, the Cheese Witch Kimbap (5,300 KRW) and Egg Witch Kimbap (5,500 KRW) are also popular. Just order whatever suits your taste.
After placing your order at the kiosk, a staff member will call you when your food is ready.
Here’s a tip from me
This system might be unfamiliar at first, but after ordering at the kiosk, you’ll receive a receipt with a number on it. Show that to a staff member, and they’ll kindly explain when your order will be ready.

The tteokbokki was spicy, sweet, and the rice cakes were chewy it was absolutely delicious. Since we both love spicy food, we enjoyed it even more. The kimbap was packed with carrots, pickled radish, egg, and ham, which blended perfectly with the rice. The texture was great, and it was full of flavor. The fried snacks were incredibly crispy, chewy, and savory probably because they were served fresh out of the fryer. Just like the tip I mentioned in my post “Hongdae Sak, A Popular Spot for Tteokbokki and Fried Snacks Near Hongdae Station,” be sure to dip the kimbap and fried snacks into the tteokbokki sauce. You’ll experience a whole new level of flavor compared to eating them plain.
If I were to travel to Seoul, I would definitely book a place to stay near Myeongdong, City Hall, or Gyeongbokgung Palace. If you don’t have a lot of time, you need to see, experience, and taste as much as possible in a short period. This area seems to be the perfect place to do all of that.
I think you’ll have a fulfilling trip to Seoul just by visiting the places I’ve mentioned on my blog. The usual restaurants and tourist spots everyone goes to are just so cliché, aren’t they? If you’re visiting Seoul, I think a real trip means eating at restaurants only locals know about, taking photos at spots only locals know about, and having those unique experiences.
